Help! Ants got into my fuse box at my pool!!!?

I turned on the main power and smoke spewed out as the ants burned. I finally killed them off and replaced all the circuit breakers. Now the pump, solar heater, and salt chlorinater do not work. My question is wouldn’t the fuses on each of the equipment protect it from overloading?
Alright I tested the individual connections and they work. Is there a way to check and see if a circuit board is still working with a volt meter?
